The water sector in the Arab region suffers from chronic problems and faces many challenges in terms of water supply and sanitation services. These challenges are common in most of the Arab countries, which are mainly but not limited to: weak water and environmental policies, limited water resources that are mostly shared with other countries outside the region, high capital investment needs to implement Mega projects, lack of management and technical capacity, climate change and the impact of political instability which all lead to a large gap between the available resources and the increasing demand.
Desal and decoupling of power and water as the renewable are coming is a very interesting subject to be tackled and searched in the near future.
